I want to let you know about a great level of service I received from Michelle over the last few days. After a poor level of service from my normal TA (retail shop-front in Brisbane), I did a web search and contacted a couple of on-line agents.
My request was for two RTW business class flights on the Lufthansa mixed alliance ticket which I have used previously in conjunction with European cruises. It turned out to be quite difficult to find seats on all the various legs particularly as I was quite specific which airlines I wanted to use within the available groupings. (need to maximise my points and status credits for One World and Star Alliance). The other agents were good with service/response, but could not get me on my preferred Singapore - Munich leg. Michelle not only was able to achieve this, but also provided me with options to hub through Frankfurt, or Munich direct at higher price. She worked closely with me to achieve exactly what I needed, albeit at a higher price than the base Lufty RTW fare. Those were my decisions, and it was great to have the various pricing options explained. Nothing seemed like too much trouble to Michelle, despite my many questions/suggestions/change of mind etc. She is now helping me with all my accommodation needs on this trip.
This is exactly what I desire in a TA, and you have a gem in Michelle.
Due to her great service, your firm has gained a $20,000+ booking, and as we travel a couple of times overseas each year, a good future client. I also intend to recommend her to my similar age (retired baby boomers) friends, who all travel overseas regularly . We all seem to struggle to find consistent great service in a TA.
I worked in a service industry all my life, and know how critical good staff are to the success of the business.

"I'm back from the trip which was marvellous, a major part of which was due to your excellent organisation of my RTW travel. Flight timings were very good and with ample time for me to make connections comfortably. The [business class] seats you selected for me were excellent; in terms of sleep/rest comfort I'd rate Swiss Air the best, then Thai close by, then Air Canada - their pods are a bit awkward and face onto others. Service was great on 3 airlines, with Air Canada probably having the edge in terms of friendliness, but Swiss were polished and efficient (surprise, surprise!).
I will be eager to use your company's services again, and look forward to having the opportunity of recommending your service to my friends."

All our questions (no matter how repetitive) were answered one by one and we never just got a stockstandard "thank you for your enquiry" email without our concerns being addressed.
Fast email and telephone response regardless of the time difference.
We really appreciated how well informed you were about the countries and the restrictions when booking a world trip (explaining sections to me and that we had to end up in same continent we left from) and that the information you gave us was accurate.

Our Concerns - were primarily that you were a company based in SA and did not have a single office in Perth. We were checking that the ABN did actually exist and that we weren't organising our world trip with an imaginary company in another state. :) However these were put at ease after a telephone call which assured us that we didn't have to worry that all flights and information could be changed over the internet free of charge and that we were covered should anything happen to the company regarding our flights."

"RoundAbout [Travel] arranged a brilliant RTW itinerary for me: Buenos Aires; Rio; London; Singapore. I used Aerolineas Argentinas, British Airways, Cathay and Qantas. During my 2 months in South America, I utilised the 4 internal flights permissible flying between countries on that continent where individually-booked tickets would have cost a fortune extra. I flew London-Stockholm return to utilise 2 free European internal flights, plus Singapore-Colombo return which accounted for 2 free internal Asian flights. This was in 2009 and the cost was about $4,000 economy. The RTW fare was tailor made for me and I was surprised how cheap it was compared with all other RTW companies. Plus I didn't even use up 4 available internal flights in Europe and Asia. Mark was extremely knowledgeable e.g. promptly knowing airline schedules of obscure South American towns. But next time I'll fly westbound to help reduce jet lag, RTW tickets of course enable this for the entire journey."
