Features of the OneWorld Tier 1 Round the World from $3199 plus taxes*:
- Minimum 3, Maximum 5 stopovers. Maximum 2 stopovers in 1 continent.
- Distance restriced. Submit your itinerary to RoundAbout Travel and we'll check the overall distance of your proposed itinerary and provide advice as to how you can shave off both distance and therefore price.
- 1 year validity.
- Quality airlines.
- Must cross both Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
Route Options:
Australia - Asia - Europe - North America - Australia.
Australia - South Pacific - North America - Europe - Asia - Australia.
Due to distance restriction limited backtracking within continents can be used on this airfare. We will advise on alternative routes if you exceed the maximum distance allowed.
Limited routes are available via South America [generally no internal fares can be included and travel must only continue to London - Asia - Australia].
Limited routes are available via Johannesburg [generally travel must continue to London with no sidetrips and only 1 or 2 stops in the US such as New York and Los Angeles].
Pros:
- Great for itineraries that only need 2 stops per continent and for people looking to take direct flights.
- For itineraries that include EAST and WEST coast North America the basic round world itineraries of Swiss, Lufthansa and Air NZ won't suit because you are left adding on internal airfares. This ticket is a great step up to include some internal flights.
- Receive Qantas (or utlilise any other OneWorld airline frequent flyer program) frequent flyer points and status credits on the entire ticket.
- Great if you need internal travel in North Asia, Western Europe ex-London/Madrid, Northern Europe via Helsinki, Eastern Europe via Budapest, the Middle East via Amman and across the USA particularly via New York, Los Angeles, Dallas and Miami.
- 2 pieces of luggage at 23kg for the entire trip due to piece system when flying via North America.
- Direct Sydney - Buenos Aires flight using Qantas a plus.
- Domestic travel in Australia included if need to get to Sydney etc to take an international flight.
Cons:
- Internal travel in South East Asia isn't possible except for stopovers in Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong.
- Limited routes into Canada.
- Distance restriction will mean that destinations such as the Carribbean, Mexico etc won't fit onto this fare.
- 2 stopovers per region/continent a major resitriction compared to Star Alliance who only restrict the number of stopovers and not their location.
