All Star Alliance round the world fares are based on the distance travelled. Thus, we take your itinerary and calculate the total flying distance to see what price bracket/tier your itinerary falls into.
What's Possible?
The lead in or tier 1 airfare from Star Alliance offers 29,000 miles. What does this mean? Well most itineraries will fall into this bracket. Unless you are doing extensive backtracking from say, Asia - Africa - Europe - North America it's difficult to go above 29,000 miles.
When are Star Alliance necessary instead of using OneWorld?

One area where Star Alliance are barely represented is South America where generally we find that OneWorld is the only option. Some exceptions apply but to get to/from South America on Star Alliance you must travel to/from the US in one direction and Europe or South Africa in the other.
