SWISS EXPANDS SERVICE FROM GENEVA AND ADDS BEIJING TO ITS NETWORK
SWISS is further expanding services from Geneva, adding Nice to the network and increasing frequencies to Madrid, Moscow and London (City) Airport. From February 2012 SWISS will be offering a new daily non-stop service between Zurich and Beijing, with convenient connections to and from Geneva. SWISS will also be increasing its capacity over the North Atlantic from summer of next year, deploying a significantly larger aircraft of its own than was hitherto in service on the Zurich-Newark route.
FURTHER GROWTH IN GENEVA
SWISS is to further strengthen its market position in Geneva, by enlarging its present route network and adding more frequencies to certain existing routes. The expansion, which underlines SWISS's commitment to the strategic market of Western Switzerland, will see a tenth SWISS aircraft based in Geneva.
NEW ROUTE GENEVA - NICE
Nice will join SWISS's Geneva-based network on 10 February 2012. The new flights will be operated using Airbus A319 equipment. Service will initially consist of two daily flights, rising to a thrice-daily operation in the 2012 summer schedules.
INCREASED FLIGHTS FROM GENEVA TO KEY EUROPEAN DESTINATIONS
The service between Geneva and London (City) will be increased by 11 flights per week with the start of the 2011/12 winter schedules on 31 October. In addition, SWISS offers six daily flights between Geneva and London Heathrow, for which it uses Airbus A320 aircraft. SWISS will be adding a second daily flight to its Geneva-Moscow route from 16 December 2011. A third daily frequency to Madrid route will be introduced from 10 February 2012. The second daily frequency to Athens will be re-launched from 10 February 2012.
NEW ROUTE ZURICH - BEIJING
SWISS is getting ready to introduce daily non-stop flights between Zurich and Beijing early in 2012. The new service to China's capital, which will commence on 11 February, marks a further expansion in SWISS's service of the growing Chinese market, a development that began with the addition of Shanghai to the network in May 2008. Passengers from Geneva enjoy fine connections to/from the new service. Beijing and Shanghai are the two most important business and trading centres in China. SWISS also serves a third Chinese destination, namely Hong Kong.
ZURICH - NEW YORK/NEWARK WITH SWISS AIRCRAFT
SWISS will also be modifying arrangements on its Zurich-Newark route, which is currently operated by an all-business-class PrivatAir Boeing 737. From 31 March 2012 onwards, SWISS will use its own long-haul aircraft on the route with a three-class cabin configuration (including the new SWISS Business product!) and substantially-increased seating capacity. The operation will also be expanded to daily service.
SWISS VOTED EUROPE'S BEST BUSINESS-CLASS AIRLINE IN THE 2011 WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS
Swiss International Air Lines has been named "Europe's Leading Airline Business Class" in this year's World Travel Awards. The distinction is based on the votes of more than 183 000 specialists from the travel and tourism sector all over the world. SWISS's earning of this prestigious industry award coincides with the completion of the carrier's programme to retrofit its new Business Class cabin into all 15 of its Airbus A340s and the withdrawal from service of its last Airbus A330-200. As a result, the advanced new SWISS Business Class is now installed on all the company's long-haul aircraft, setting new quality benchmarks in cabin interior terms.
SWISS travellers can now enjoy the delights of the new SWISS Business cabin on all long-haul flights. The new Business Class is one element in SWISS's extensive programme of investments in its product and its aircraft fleet which began with the service entry of the first of its ten new Airbus A330-300 long-haul twinjets in spring 2009. The centrepiece of the new long-haul SWISS Business Class is the seat, which reclines into a two-metre-long lie-flat air-cushioned bed. As well as its individually-adjustable firmness/softness settings, the seat boasts a special massage function to keep travellers rested and relaxed inflight. A further striking feature of the new Business Class cabin is its innovative seating arrangement, which provides eight of every nine seats with direct aisle access. The new cabin thus offers SWISS Business travellers both outstanding seating and sleeping comfort and optimum personal space. First class cabin on all intercontinental aircraft. With the withdrawal from service of its last Airbus A330-200, SWISS has also become the only airline in Europe to offer a three-class cabin product - First, Business and Economy - on all its intercontinental flights.
SWISS TASTE OF SWITZERLAND - SCHAFFHAUSEN
From 1 September until the end of November, SWISS passengers in First and Business Class on all flights out of Switzerland and on selected return flights as well as on longer European flights will have the opportunity to enjoy menu creations from the canton of Schaffhausen. André Jaeger, the owner of the restaurant Fischerzunft in Schaffhausen (awarded 19 GaultMillau points) is more than just a great chef and a very popular restaurateur. He is an avant-garde personality, who has epitomised culinary and cultural sophistication for over 30 years and has opened up Swiss cuisine to the culinary subtleties of China. By combining the tastes of the East with those of the West, he has initiated a movement, which constantly finds new forms of culinary seduction, whilst revering the old traditions. André Jaeger, the President of the Grands Tables Suisses, who resolutely remains in the
kitchen and can do absolutely anything with an oven, embodies the typical ideal of modern Switzerland: cosmopolitan and innovative, yet hardworking and attached to his native country. Thanks to this feat, André Jaeger has turned his Fischerzunft in Schaffhausen into a national institution.
SWISS TEAMS UP WITH OBEROI HOTELS AND RESORTS ON FLIGHTS TO INDIA
SWISS is "going east" in style for passengers flying in First or Business Class from Switzerland to India. Authentic Indian meals created in partnership with Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, one of the most highly regarded names in the field in Asia, are now served on Zurich-Mumbai and Zurich-Delhi flights. This inflight cuisine is sure to make Indian customers feel at home on their journey back to India. At the same time, passengers from other parts of the world can take advantage of an opportunity to savour superb Indian food ahead of their arrival on the subcontinent. This culinary innovation with an Asian accent builds on the existing partnership between SWISS Taste of Switzerland, the airline's
distinctive catering concept, and the Peninsula Hong Kong, which has been in place since 2009.
DISTINCTIVE DESIGN FOR NEW SWISS BUSINESS AMENITY KIT
Passengers travelling in SWISS First or SWISS Business on an intercontinental flight can look forward to enjoying SWISS's classy amenity kits. For flights in SWISS Business from Switzerland, the amenity kit bag will have been designed by QWSTION - a young Swiss bag design company whose products have been placed with the world's leading retailers. As a distinctive feature, the new bag integrates SWISS's world of colour as well as the material used in our seatbelts. QWSTION specialises in creating bags that are both practical and durable travel companions. A Swiss brand with an international spirit, QWSTION focuses on meeting the needs of global citizens, who value flexibility
and face modern life with a critical but calm attitude. On flights to Switzerland the amenity kit will showcase the various SWISS aircraft on a series of tin boxes which are sure to become a
popular collectable item. The complementary cosmetics in the Business Class lavatories feature
fine products from Valmont of Switzerland. The amenity kit in SWISS First builds on SWISS's longstanding successful cooperation with Bally and La Prairie, two of the best brands in their respective fields. To add a touch of variety to frequent travellers, the design of the Bally bags will change regularly.
SWISS STRENGTHENS POSITIONING AND SHARPENS BRAND PROFILE
Swiss International Air Lines intends to further strengthen its positioning and its profile as the airline of Switzerland over the coming years. While maintaining a keen focus on such key business competencies as cost management and flexibility, SWISS
will be striving to further intensify its collaborations within the Lufthansa Group, and will be putting a particular emphasis on sharpening its brand profile. With the vast range of products on the market today, SWISS believes that its brand is the key to enabling it to stand out as a service provider in the field. The airline sees its brand as symbolic of top product and service quality, closeness to customers and traditional Swiss values. SWISS also views the company's manageable size (compared to many of its competitors) as a vital asset of which it intends to make greater use in its desire to respond even better and more specifically to customers' individual needs and wishes.
Parallel with these commitments, a new logo will also be adopted from October onwards. The new logo shows a SWISS tailfin with its Swisscross design, reflecting the livery of the company's aircraft and enabling SWISS to be instantly recognised as "the airline of Switzerland", even from afar. SWISS's advertising and promotional materials will also be given a clear new look. And here, too, the focus will be on the company's aircraft and their Swiss-cross tails. SWISS has further distilled its commitment to the customer to deliver a top-quality service product into a concise new claim: ‘Our sign is a promise'. SWISS is convinced that, with a stronger brand profile, it will be better able to survive and thrive in a competitive market that is growing tougher each year. Ultimately, SWISS is determined to continue to live up to, and further build on, its aspiration of being Europe's leading airline in product quality and profitability terms. The new SWISS logo will be gradually adopted for all the company's communications channels and at airports in and outside Switzerland from October onwards.
