Step 2 help
A predesigned, basic package or a custom built itinerary. The choice is yours.
There are two kinds of around the world trips. The first are what we call ‘basic' or ‘predesigned' trips. These are airfares by certain airlines that allow you to visit Europe or the USA and come back in the opposite direction with optional stopovers in Asia. They are ‘basic' in that they work on a set structure. You simply must go via certain destinations which are the airlines hubs or home cities where all international flights will originate from or fly to. There is some flexibility with included side trips, alternative Asian stopovers and gaps can sometimes be left in between for you to traverse yourself but essentially they are less flexible than a traditional ‘custom' itinerary. ‘Custom' fares are offered by each group of airline alliances and are based on a shared agreement of the members of the alliances. See our info section on alliances for more info. Each alliance has pros and cons and one may be better than another for different itineraries. We will always adopt the cheapest itinerary or the one that clearly is the most relevant for your itinerary. If you prefer a particular alliance for frequent flyer points please advise your consultant.
