Austrian Airlines Vienna Airport Lounges – Schengen Area

As is standard in European airports within the Schengen area, Vienna Airport is split into Schengen and non-Schengen sections with business classes lounges in each. We visited the Schengen area lounge when transiting between Munich and Vienna, and then the non-Shengen lounge when departing Europe for New York.

The lounges are both located upstairs of the airport, with the Schengen lounge being before passport control and the non-Schengen being after. Both lounges were renovated in early 2018 and are similar in design and layout, here’s an overview of each:

The Austrian Airlines lounge is L shaped, you enter at the cross point of the L where there is a buffet area with food and drinks and a selection of dining and bar height tables.

We were in the lounge at lunch time and a variety of fresh salads, soup, and a tasty potato bake were available in the buffet area, along with self serve drinks including beer wine and spirits, and a special herbal ‘sleep’ drink for those wanting to wind down during transit.

Soup and a range of snack food are also available.

The lounge is fresh and comfortable with a variety of different seating areas and options to choose from. The space isn’t huge but being a predominately transit lounge, the guest tend to come and go and it wasn’t overly crowded whilst we were there. The new decor includes reproductions of classic paintings from famous Austrian artists.
